THE LANGHAM, LONDON LAUNCHES LUXURY AFTERNOON TEA PICNIC HAMPER AND REGENT’S PARK OPEN AIR THEATRE PACKAGE
June 2010
This summer, The Langham, London is launching its first
luxury afternoon tea picnic hamper. Guests can take advantage of the hotel's excellent location, just a few minutes walk from Regent's Park and take afternoon tea for two in a traditional wicker hamper, complete with a picnic rug.
Palm Court, the hotel’s dazzling centrepiece, is renowned as the birthplace of the afternoon tea tradition, serving classic afternoon tea to the cream of London since The Langham first opened in 1865 as Europe’s first ‘Grand Hotel’. Like The Langham, origins of the picnic can be traced back to the 19th century when it became the vogue for Victorians to enjoy many of London’s growing outdoor spaces and parks with an elegant meal eaten outdoors.
The Langham picnic hamper will offer guests a chance to experience the renowned afternoon tea in the nearby open spaces to the hotel, such as Regent’s Park, as well as the option of taking it to the many outdoor events of the British summer social season.
The Palm Court Afternoon Tea Hamper includes:
| • |
|
A selection of speciality sandwiches including: poached Scottish salmon and cucumber; Coronation chicken; cream cheese with piccalilli |
| • |
|
Home-baked scones with Champagne soaked raisins |
| • |
|
From Palm Court’s Bijoux Tea: über luxury pastry items inspired by the collections of top jewellery designers of nearby Bond Street. |

For the ultimate enchanting experience, The Langham, London also offers an all-inclusive package which includes accommodation, a hamper and tickets to a production at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, a much loved tradition of summer in the capital.
