The latest pop-up venue to check-out this summer is
The Terrace Garden at The Langham, London in association with Laurent-Perrier Champagne.
As part of its £80 million refurbishment completed last year, the original ‘Grand Hotel’ has created a new exterior courtyard garden at the front of the hotel, off Portland Place, providing a unique
outdoor cocktail and cigar venue in the heart of London, in anticipation of a long overdue warm English summer.
The Langham, London and Laurent-Perrier Champagne both trace their pedigrees to the 19th century, when al fresco gatherings began to epitomise the summer social season during the Victorian era, such as Chelsea Flower Show and the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament and Laurent-Perrier has become synonymous with the English summer season, with its ubiquitous Champagne bars at many of the season’s most celebrated events.
Accessed from the hotel’s lower ground floor, The Terrace Garden offers a rare outdoor venue for summer drinkers and cigar aficionados, just minutes from the luxury stores on Regent Street and Bond Street. It’s a perfect pit-stop at the end of a busy day of retail therapy or to meet friends after the work day.
Raised beds and planters are filled with box hedges, topiary bay trees and seasonal summer flowers, giving the feel of a English courtyard garden. Banquette seating with oversized cushions and occasional rattan-styled furniture have been designed and sited to afford intimate private seating areas to relax and socialise. Stepping back into the hotel, The Terrace Garden also has a dedicated lounge and bar for guests wishing to be indoors and watch the summer sporting events on a large flat screen plasma television, such as the FIFA World Cup or the Wimbledon Finals.
This seasonal bar will open on Monday 14 June, for the start of Royal Ascot week and run through August. Open daily from 4.00pm to 11.00pm, Monday- Saturday inclusive, The Terrace Garden will feature favourite summer beverages including Pimms cup as well as a selection of Champagnes from Laurent-Perrier, available by the glass (such as Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé NV) or by the bottle (such as Laurent-Perrier 1999 and Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle)
A full range of premium spirits and wines by the glass will also be offered. As an accompaniment, themed sharing food platters including an Arabic meze platter, may be ordered.
For the cigar aficionado, a handed picked list of selected cigars from Hunters & Frankau and Davidoff will also be available with a bespoke Cigar and Champagne pairing menu, allowing guests to make the perfect match by recommending the Champagne best suited to their choice of cigar.
