January 2007: Artesian, open January 2007, is the deeply glamorous new cocktail bar at the Langham Hotel in London. Star designer David Collins has transformed the old bar with brilliant interiors that combine a whiff of exotic Orientalism, the romance of new nostalgia and some very sexy, contemporary touches. Collins’ gorgeous work is famous… from the Blue Bar at The Berkeley hotel, Knightsbridge and The Wolseley on Piccadilly, to Claridge’s Bar and the just-opened London Hotel in New York – and now Artesian. Artesian – named after the 360ft deep artesian well under the hotel –offers a fantastic list of cocktails and specializes in rum, with exclusive new rum cocktails designed especially for the opening.
Artesian’s mixologists have looked back at the classic combinations of flavours in original cocktails such as punches, slings and sours, to make sure that the alcohol base every cocktail can be tasted, as well as the surrounding flavours.
Even the ice is special - through the very latest technology, Artesian’s ice will be purer, colder and with a higher density, to make the ice last longer and the cocktails colder - and more potent.
Artesian is open 7 days a week – from 0730am for muffins and great coffee, to 0200 am when the evening comes to a close with mellow tunes and cocktails.
