Royal Wedding boost tourist numbers

As Valentine's Day approaches it has been revealed that last year's Royal Wedding help to attract a record number of tourists to London.

According to the Office for National Statistics, 350,000 extra people flooded the capital's streets in April last year compared to 2010.

This year is expected to be even bigger, with major events such as the Queen's diamond jubilee and the Olympic Games planned for the summer.

"We want to make sure we capitalise on these gains by helping boost jobs across the country and create a lasting tourism legacy for many years to come," Patricia Yates, director of strategy and communication at VisitBritain, said.

According to the group, the British Museum, the National Gallery and the Natural History Museum were all popular with the tourists.

Anyone who pops the question tomorrow (presuming the answers is yes!) may want to follow Wills and Kate's lead and look for an ideal location for a wedding reception in London.
