The Madness of King George III is only being hosted by the Apollo Theatre until the end of March and the event could be a perfect excursion for those people planning on staying in a hotel near Oxford Street.

Olivier Award-winning actor David Haig gives one of the best performances of his career as the title character, as he portrays The Mad King's bouts of insanity.

People may be familiar with the plot as the original stage show was adapted into the 1994 film which starred Helen Mirren and Nigel Hawthorne.

Theatre lovers on a London weekend break may want to follow the performance with a fine meal at Roux at The Landau or a spot of afternoon tea served in Palm Court.
