Parents who are thinking about how they can keep their children entertained in the next school holiday could consider taking them to see a new marine exhibition in the capital.

The Shark Reef Encounter at the London Sea Life Aquarium will be open in time for the February half-term holiday and it could be the perfect highlight for those families who are on a London weekend break.

According to the centre, both adults and kids will be able to take a stroll over a five metre glass walkway - that will mean they will have some of the ocean's most prolific predators inches from their feet.

Two 2.3 metre brown sharks, which are usually found in the tropics of southern Brazil and Florida, form the centrepiece of the attraction.

Those on a London weekend break may want to end the day by retiring for a good night's sleep in one of the Oxford Street hotels such as The Langham.
