Discover a new culture at the African Weekender
London weekend break
Event: African Weekender
Date: October 9th and 10th
Location: Trafalgar Square
Visitors to the capital on October 9th and 10th could discover more about Nigerian culture and sample some of the country's food at the African Weekender.
Families planning a London weekend break in the second week of October may like to consider heading over to Trafalgar Square.
That is because it will be transformed into a hotbed for African culture in order to celebrate 50 years of Nigerian independence, reports ViewLondon.
Visitors to the event will be able to watch traditional dance troupes from the African continent showcasing their skills, listen to live music performances and browse stalls.
Those on a London weekend break could browse the stalls and find a perfect gift or souvenir to take home with them.
The stalls will be displaying arts and crafts such as paintings, beads and textiles.
There will also be stands selling Nigerian dishes. These could include soups and sauces that are made spicy with chilies, while aromatic market snacks are usually cooked on a barbecue or fried in oil.
After indulging in Nigerian cuisine and learning more about its culture at the African Weekender, families can retire to the 5 star Langham hotel.
