Celebrate Chinese New Year in London

London weekend break

Event: Chinese New Year
Dates: to January 29th
Venue: Various

Just less than a month since people thought they had seen the end of the champagne bottles and fireworks, London will host another spectacular celebration.

The Chinese New Year ushers in the Year of the Dragon today, but those staying on a London weekend break will be able to join in the festivities when the capital kicks off the main party on January 29th.

London's Chinatown will be the setting for a magnificent street parade, which will incorporate all the spectacle and excitement of the Lunar Festival.

The Chen Brothers, who hold the world record for the highest pole jump, will take centre stage in Trafalgar Square as 100 performers turn the landmark into a little Beijing for the night.

A second stage on Shaftesbury Avenue will feature performances from local schools and community groups.

Families can then watch the night sky light up before they retire to a  5 star hotel such as The Langham for a luxurious night's sleep.
