The BP Portrait Award 2010 at the National Portrait Gallery inLondon is open to visitors all summer.

The exhibition could provide people on London weekend breaks with the perfectopportunity to enjoy work by some of the finest artists showing inthe capital.

One of the UK's most prestigious art prizes, the BP PortraitAward includes pieces from some of the world's greatest, with thisyear's top prize going to Daphne Todd.

The artist's work Last Portrait of Mother depicts her mum AnnieMary Todd on her death bed at the age of 100.

The piece, which was the fourth work from the artist to havebeen nominated for the award, is part of a total of 55 paintings,including both winners and the best of the rest.

Michael Gaskell's Harry took second place, with DavidEichenberg's Tim II finishing in third.

The BP Portrait Award has been going for 35 years.
