Theatre-lovers could be in for a treat as thousands of seats to top shows become available due to the World Cup fever which is descending on the capital.
Drawing on the experiences of previous sports tournaments, producers and theatres in the West End are gearing up for a tough few weeks as many people opt to go to the pub or stay at home in order to follow England's exploits in South Africa.
On the plus side, demand for some of the more popular shows is likely to ease, enhancing the odds of landing a great seat at the last-minute.
Speaking to the Stage, Nimax Theatres chief executive and Society of London Theatre president Nica Burns explained that demand for tickets to shows that are particularly popular with women, such as Legally blonde, could remain high, suggesting that people should maybe book ahead to guarantee a seat.
Meanwhile, another West End hit, Dirty Dancing the Musical, has been given a new extension, with the show set to run until at least April 2011.
After enjoying a Theatre performance in the West End, visitors can retire in style to the five star Langham, London.
