New galleries show history of capital for luxury London hotel guests

Event: The Galleries of Modern London, Museum of London
Date: Ongoing

Culture-lovers checking into luxury London hotels are now able to enjoy five new galleries at the popular Museum of London.

Forming part of a £20 million revamp of the attraction, the new galleries focus on the modern history of Britain's capital.

The new collections include films from the past decades, while interactive exhibits enable visitors to experience the Blitz or the poverty afflicting many Londoners in the 18th century.

These items will stand alongside objects dating back to the Great Fire of 1666.

Announcing the completion of the revamp, director Professor Jack Lohman said: "The Galleries of Modern London breathe new life into the museum, with extraordinary elevations flooding spaces with light and bringing our story of the greatest city in the world right up to date."

One of the most popular attractions among culture-fans staying in luxury hotels in London, the museum will be hosting a special show entitled LDN 24 by the Light Surgeons.

The exhibition, to be shown over the summer, gives visitors the chance to see an HD film and contemporary art portraying the city at night.
