Barbican hosts Surreal House exhibition

The Barbian Art Gallery has celebrated the opening of another show likely to be of interest among art-lovers checking into luxury London hotels this summer.

Named 'The Surreal House', this latest summer exhibition is aimed at challenging as well as entertaining visitors to the popular east London cultural hub.

Rather than focusing on simply art, the new exhibition explores the relationship between architecture and the Surrealist movement.

Inside the 'labyrinth of chambers' designed by acclaimed up-and-coming architects Carmody Groarke, works by the likes of Dali, Duchamp, Magritte, Man Ray and Deren sit alongside many less-well-known pieces by contemporary artists.

As well as the exhibition itself, art-lovers booking into a luxury London hotel for a long weekend will be able to enjoy a series of talks, performances and films on Thursday evenings.

The Barbican will also be hosting a number of top concerts this summer, including performances by the likes of the Back to Front Theatre Company and the Cia de Danca ensemble.
